2013 Fosters Belmar Pro
The 10th annual Fosters Belmar Pro is now history......... After one of the flattest Summers on record, Mother Nature came through not once, but twice for us. On 9/08 we held the Belmar Pro/STS Amateur Team event. Using a new and interesting format, the surf went from nearly flat in the morning to clean chest to shoulder high waves in the afternoon for the Finals. Once again Monday the surf was completely flat.
We have never been so scared that we weren't going to get anything. All the forecasts were calling for minimal conditions all week. Tuesday dawned and "magically" the remnants of TS Gabriielle started to pull itself together and was moving directly at us........ Wow! Can you believe it?
Thursday morning brought building conditions all throughout the day. Friday was epic with offshores and chest to overhead surf. Saturday was the toughest day with clean small knee to waist high surf. Once again Sunday the swell improved all throughout the day, bringing us awesome conditions for the finals.
Benny B, former WCT standout again took the title and beautiful hand carved trophy by Ronnie Jackson.
Sam Orozco won the Fins/ ASP Jr Title, Maddie Petersen won the FSOS Womens, Justin Quintal won the ASP Pro Longboard, Matt Keenan won the Masters and Robert Weiner won the Legends event.
Even "Legendary" 3 time ASP World Champion, Tom Curren showed up and put on a few moves to wow the crowd.
We had terrific music and Saturday and Sunday and the Sponsor Village was buzzing the entire time.
The Belmar Pro has really come a long way in it's ten year history and has definitely put NJ on the world's surf map!
